ENTRY REQUIREMENT

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY BY RESEARCH

1. A master's degree in the field or related fields accepted by UTHM Senate; or
2. Other qualifications equivalent to a master's degree recognised by the Government of Malaysia.
3. Candidates without a related qualification in the field/s or working experience in the relevant fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by UTHM. (Rigorous Assessment)

DOCTORAL DEGREE BY COURSEWORK

1. A master's degree in the field or related fields accepted by UTHM Senate; or
2. Other qualifications equivalent to a master's degree recognised by the Government of Malaysia.

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (FAST TRACK)

1. Applicants must possess a Bachelor Degree with Honours from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) or any other higher learning institution recognised by the Senate with  CGPA 3.67/4.00 and above.
2. Applicants shall be call for an interview prior being offered a place in UTHM postgraduate program. The interview panel members shall include TWO (2) representative from the respective faculty, ONE (1) reperentative from UTHM Centre for Graduate Studies and ONE (1) UTHM Senate member.
3. The Fast Track Research Proposal shall be evaluated in accordance to the rubric (Download)
4. Applicants who complies with the interview requirements shall be offered a place in UTHM Doctor of Philosophy (Fast Track) program.
5. Applicants who do not meet or satisfy the interview requirements shall be offered a place in UTHM Master Program (by research).

MASTER'S DEGREE BY RESEARCH

1. A bachelor's degree in the field or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent, as accepted by UTHM Senate; or
2. A bachelor's degree in the field or related fields or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and not meeting CGPA of 2.75, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment; or
3. A bachelor's degree in the field or related fields or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to a minimum of 5 years working experience in the relevant field and rigorous internal assessment. (Download working experience portfolio)
4. Candidates without a qualification in the related fields or relevant working experience must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by UTHM and meet the minimum CGPA based on (i) to (iii)  (Rigorous Assessment)

MASTER'S BY COURSEWORK

1. A bachelor's degree in the field or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent, as accepted by UTHM Senate; or
2. A bachelor's degree in the field or related fields or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting a CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment.
3. Candidates without a qualification in the related fields or working experience in the relevant fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by UTHM and meet the minimum CGPA based on (i) to (ii) (Rigorous Assessment)

MASTER'S BY MIXED MODE

1. A bachelor's degree in the field or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent, as accepted by UTHM Senate; or
2. A bachelor's degree in the field or related fields or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and not meeting a CGPA of 2.75, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment; or
3. A bachelor's degree in the field or related fields or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to a minimum of 5 years working experience in the relevant field and rigorous internal assessment. (Download working experience portfolio)

MINIMUM ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS;

1.   Applicants enrolling in the postgraduate programme at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), commencing from Semester I of the Academic Session 2021/2022 onwards, must fulfill the minimum English proficiency level as approved by the UTHM Senate Bil. 3/2022/2023 (Kali ke-221). The approved criteria for English proficiency include one of the following:

Applicants enrolling in the postgraduate programme adhering to the Business Studies: MQA Programme Standard, commencing from Semester I of the Academic Session 2021/2022 onwards, must fulfill the minimum English proficiency aligned to CEFR Mid B2 as follows:

MUET ; B4.0, IELTS  ; 6.0, TOEFL iBT ; 60, TOEFL Essentials (Online) ; 8.5,  PTE Academic / PTE Academic (Online) ; 59, Linguaskill Online ; 169, ELS (CIEP) ; 109.

Applicants enrolling in the postgraduate programme adhering to the Computing: MQA Programme Standard, commencing from Semester I of the Academic Session 2024/2025 onwards, must fulfill the minimum English proficiency level aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) as follows:

Master's Programme (CEFR Low B2) :  MUET ; B4.0, IELTS  ; 5.5, TOEFL iBT ; 46, TOEFL Essentials (Online) ; 8,  PTE Academic / PTE Academic (Online) ; 51, Linguaskill Online ; 160, ELS (CIEP); 108.

PhD Programme (CEFR Mid B2) : MUET ; B4.0, IELTS  ; 6.0, TOEFL iBT ; 60, TOEFL Essentials (Online) ; 8.5,  PTE Academic / PTE Academic (Online) ; 59, Linguaskill Online ; 169, ELS (CIEP) ; 109.

2.  Applicants who graduated with academic qualification from Higher Learning Institutions in Malaysia recognized by the Senate are eligible to apply for exemption from the English Language Proficiency requirements.

3.  Applicants who graduated with academic qualification from Higher Learning Institutions from foreign countries listed as the English Speaking Countries are eligible to apply for exemption from the English Language Proficiency requirements.
